I don't know if it is my computer or if I just missed something. I am very lost and don't know what to do. So then I tried using a new port, a new cord, a powered USB 2.0 hub, and nothing seems to be working.

Then I tried pressing the button and uploading the basic Blink code but I got the error- avrdude: Error: Could not find USBtiny device (0x1781/0xc9f). When I plugged in the trinket and pressed the bootloader button, instead of the nice pulsing bootloader LED I was expecting, I got a green power LED and a red LED blinking twice then off for a second on a loop.

Everything seemed to be in order, then I grabbed a proven correct Micro-Usb cable and plugged in my Pro Trinket(I have a Macbook OSX 10.6.8 with the 1.0.5 IDE). So I unpackaged it, downloaded the correct IDE, changed the board and programmer settings(Pro Trinket 5V USB, USBtinyISP). Again, I went through the guides, I went through tutorials on Youtube, and my friends - who regularly work with Arduinos, tried to get these Trinkets to work and connect to their own PCs and MAC, but it seems dead.I just bought a 5V 16MHz Pro Trinket and I was very excited. Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits Adafruit Pro Trinket - 5V 16MHz : ID 2000 - Deprecation Warning: The Pro Trinket bit-bang USB technique it uses doesn't work as well as it did in 2014, many modern computers won't work well. I plug in the Trinket, the red light turns on and off (nothing is attached to the trinket), and no "new hardware found" alert, or sound happens.

I have it set to the right programmer and device, but the issue, inherently, is the fact that my PC will NOT recognize the hardware. I attempted to attach a USB 2.0 hub as well, and tried many different USB ports, all 2.0 - nothing. My USB ports are 2.0 because my USB 3.0 is detached (the case didn't have enough space for the port to be run internally, so I never attached it. Especially with laptops, the USB can be super finicky! :/ This is just frustrating, and I'm likely just not going to bother with the trinket anymore and move on to a different Arduino device (praying those work as well).Īdafruit2 wrote:it may be you have USB3 ports on your computer, you could try another USB port or going thru a hub. I have even consulted with my tech savvy friends, who have worked with Arduinos before, and they've taken the Trinkets to test. This pin can take up 16V DC input, and has reverse-polarity, over-curent and thermal protections. Battery + Input - take your Trinket anywhere and power it from an external battery. I see similar issues, but nothing remotely close to what I am seeing. It pulses or blinks nicely when the Pro Trinket is in bootloader mode, and its also handy for when you want an indicator LED. Is there any means of assistance so I can understand what can possibly be going on here? I've spent days browsing the forums and other sites for help. So, now what? I'm fairly certain that it isn't fate which has caused me to received two broken Trinkets, but rather something that I am missing, as noted in my original post. I have used a new USB cable and am connected to USB 2.0

The red light turns on, and off, and the PC does not recognize that a device is being plugged in, nor does the trinket appear anywhere in my device manager. So, I received my new Trinket, and I'm seeing the same exact issue.

Is there anything that I am missing? Is the Trinket I received just dead, or is Windows just being terrible? I have Googled and browsed the forums on here, but I haven't found anything that's related to my issue.ĮDIT: This video link demonstrates my exact problem: I have also even checked the Control Panel, to try and roll back the drivers, but the option is greyed out for the ports I used, so I am fairly certain that this isn't installing at all. I checked that the right board was selected, as well as programmer.

When I run the Arduino IDE, it tells me that it cannot find a USBTiny device - as I am unable to install the drivers. I attempted the same thing on my laptop and didn't see any difference. I switched cables, I switched USB outlets, and I even bought a USB hub. When it is plugged in, there is no PC/USB connector sound from the PC - that it is recognizing a new plugged in device. I installed the USBTiny drivers, or at least attempted to, as I never received the installation prompt. Now, my PC isn't recognizing the device, and potentially the drivers. If I hit the reset button on the microcontroller, it continued the same behavior. The green power light would turn on, but the red would turn on for 2 seconds, and then turn off, never blinking or flashing. I recently bought a Neopixel LED strip and an Adafruit Trinket, not Pro, to get started.īefore I did anything, I attempted to connect the trinket via USB to my PC. So, I'll preface this with saying that I'm a newbie to this stuff.
